Re: ok ok

I agree there have been too many gratuitous links to the dodgy sites. Sometimes (as in mangust thread) it was ok. But othertimes (barryh?) then it sort of leapt out of nowhere. Well-aimed PM's and kimmerisation normally works.

Generally, I feel ok to let 13-yearold wander the sites. Can't be too bad then can it?

Re: ok ok

What you slagging me for, none of mine are risky, and the ones that might offend I always put a warning for the straight laced lot. At least I don't link to pornographic sites unlike some person I could mention, and he/she/it is a raggie.

Note I deleted one last night because I thought it a bit close to the knuckle, only put the link thing up cos I was getting sick of answering PM's.

having been censured by yourself(i assume) for poor timing of sick/insensitive humour, for which i apologise to all those, who that had chance to read it,! (it seemed amusing after a couple of beers) i am dismayed over the growing use of expletives on the forum, it is usually a sign of lazyness or lack of education, which somehow does'nt ring true here, so therefore it must be a case of overfamiliarisation of the regular users ,who prefer to treat this forum as a personnal club to the exclusion of others, forgetting that this is a public site, and as i have found out, we don't all share the same sense of morality /humour. i wonder if i will get a bite? i mean a response!!

going fishing now

If it makes you feel any better Barry at about 1600 this afternoon, in the snow, I paused momentarily at busy traffic lights in the middle of town, gently pushed gear lever forward and thought that feels awfully soggy.

Started to let in clutch and still in neutral, waggled useless gear lever and engine idling sweetly connected to a box of 10 gears and I cannot engage any of them - The clevis pin at the base of the lever had snapped.

Ever tried to interest anyone in taking their hand off the horm and helping you push 2 tonnes of 4wd to the side when it is snowing? The whole lot of them just sat there glowering and honking horns. Eventually spotted police car about 100 yards back and prevailed on him to clear a path and help me to push it to the side.

Had absolutely amazing service from the AA, the van arrived (in about 3 minutes)as I was still on the phone to the emergency number and we had it temporarily fixed with an 8mm bolt in less than 15 minutes. AA man looked well pleased with tip for such rapid service and I even arrived at the appointment I was attending right on time. Even better, unlike the R*C he did not even try to sell me a new battery!

Hooray. A bit of sense on the matter. It reminds me of being at QPR (don't ask) where the man behind was shouting at various players about their f-ing performance, then clapped his hands over my son's ear at half time while he told me how much he admired the 'charlies' (his word) of a majorette prancing about in front of us. There, I've outed myself now. I'm out of the closet. A QPR fan and a raggie.

Well everyone wants to regulate us these days so give us a comprehensive list of those words which are banned and those which are acceptable then! Go on, dont be shy, you raised the subject

The granny state has reached the forum! Although I do admit, I've noticed it also.

While we're on the subject, can we all please tidy up our shoddy syntax, cr@p grammer (oops), and inappropriate use of the apostrophe? It's (not "its") "couldn't", not "could'nt" or "couldnt". And do'nt any of you no the difference between "your" and "you're"?

And another thing...our dress sense: I was dismayed to see some truly shocking knitwear in the pics of Byron's party (where was that pub, anyway? The decor was quite startling) and at the LIBS party. A little less like Jeremy Clarkson and a little more like Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen, please.

And for God's sake do something about your hair...

And...

Bit like boating really Mike...my hope is that it can all remain largely self-regulated. See my job not as decency fuehrer but as someone who just occasionally needs to remind people that this is a public area and not a private cocoon...so no list; I'd be surprised if one was necessary /forums/images/icons/smile.gif.

<font color=blue>You forgot the dudes that insist on ending words that end in 'AL' with 'ALL' as in regretful, meaningful, awful.
Incidentally 'grammer'? what's wrong with 'GRAMMAR'?
