My youngest waves at everything and anyone, be they people, ducks, swans or whatever. If you don't wave back she waves harder until you do.

We were all 2 once:)

"Anyway you could never really be miserable - you're too nice a bloke for that"

Thanks David I have now printed off to give to Joanne........not sure that she will buy into this and I fear it will significantly discredit you.

Not a raggie vs mobo thing surely. Raggies are very nice peeps, apart from the silly snotty ones of course. Then there are some rather snotty Moboers too. Why, some raggies even find wallets full of dosh and cards on the pontoon and deliver them to absent- minded/pissed/overloaded moboers sometimes. Cors, if raggies don't always wave back it could be because they are busy pulling strings and turning those salad drying things on either side. It could be that they're thinking " He is waving to me isn't he? He has actually seen me hasn't he? Oh f.."

Re: unfair

Nick, not unfair, bit below the belt maybe, but not unfair. I mean, were you being naughty?

How can it mate? Purly confirming the reason while she married you in the first place. A lady of considerable discernement IMHO!

Perhaps you should try waving open handed - not with your middle finger extended

Speaking as a dyed in the wool Raggie I reckon the reason you don't get waved at by Raggies is that we view life at a different pace.

By the time i've realised that a Stinkie is there He's already on top of me. I stagger to my feet & by the time I've woken up enough to wave I'm bouncing around in his wake trying to grab hold of anything solid.

Slow down to a sensible 3-4 Knots & you will find things totally different.

You know it makes sense.

Kids in hire boats wave at us, and they love it when you wave back. And the lake warden waves at us too... Oh just realised he must be telling us to slow down through Bowness. If you ever visit Windemere Nick I am sure the lake warden will wave at you, you just have to go more than six mph to make him.

Re: unfair

Cliff

I was feeling sensative this morning....but you do raise a good point. Whilst I am very concious of my wash and its affect on other boats particularly saily ones it is sometimes, even when giving the widest berth, impossible to avoid passing it on.

Still don't think that I was too close but I accept the question.

Of course, sometimes people are concentrating on something else and may not be looking in your direction, I guess we may all at times have missed a wave.
