I do like the idea of a registered users only forum however. A couple of people where I live have said 'I saw your posting the other day'. Now I just don't like these lurkers being able to read my thoughts without any comittment to the forum. Thats why I don't have any details in my personal info, but would if only registered users could read.
So here goes.... gulp....... 180 degree u turn....... I owuld suppport a registered users only forum for the general stuff that tends to reveal more about us all than we would want un registered users to see.
Drat Boatone I guess that makes 4 in your super-minority :-(
More of stumbled around poking fun at a few po faces.... and then ended up agreeing with them. You see these open discussion forums do work, if you don't allow people to express their feelings and desires then how you gonna understand them and appeal to their motivations. Besides which a good blood letting never did anyone any harm as Boatone said he was sticking his head above the parapet....just asking for trouble if you ask me ;-)
Oh dear, I've come over all faint (was a time when I'd have said 'queer' but ....)....I think I need to lie down. Never known anyone cross the floor so fast since I was a nipper learning ballroom at the Court over Burtons tailors.........
Well, I'll have to seek view from the other two but I expect w could let you in.,....gotta promise to fill out that profile thingy mind........
<font color=purple>.....now we are four, there must be some more.......</font color=purple>

<seem to remember that it took quite a few debates before capital punishment was abolished....not to mention equal rights for women and various other major shifts in public opinion.....>
Agree. I'm against for similar reasons.
Would actually like less forums - can't get any sort of broadband out here in the sticks, and jumping between forums to read latest messages takes forever.
on a silly note - did like Kim's (non) suggestion in another forum of forcing taglines into [white] /forums/images/icons/wink.gif at least we'd have partial whites back
I've just come alive, now you are 5.
Will allow me a lot more time for sport on telly if it's easier to sort out the Educational from the Fun. Can select according to ones mood in that case.
Good Idea.
Umm at the risk of getting totally flamed, IMHO I think that there'll be one very busy forum and 5 very dead and mundane ones. Seen it happen on another board that I post on. The inter dispersal of humor/rant/techy in the forums makes them more interesting.
Yeah! I know its running rough, but your lucky its running at all!!
<<more logical for this to be achieved by the simple expedient of splitting MBC, to create the motorboat equivalents of SB and R to R>>
No! Def not. All really technical questions go to R to R anyway, raggies and stinkpotters. MBC and SB are both general forums where anything else goes, general questions or trivial stuff
I would go for a privatish forum, it would be quite fun, but i find most of the humour, rants, etc are thread drift and may not appear in the cold light of day so to speak, It tends to be spontaneous on the other forums, not planned so to speak. But lets give it a go, you never know, with some of the opinionated devils around here.
I agree that we need a forum that is really discussing issues directly related to Motor Boats. It is a pain in the ass filtering the personal chit chat that could be in any forum/chatroom anywhere. I look at this forum to pick up info, tips etc and possibly help others with problems they may be having ( only related to boating!! )
would it not be better to restrict techincal questions to the PBO rtor which ( this could just be me) seems to have a more raggie bent. and then let other MBM or raggie rants and queries just linger on the current boards
sie if people reall need help go to the techhy board
if they want to air opinions etc they can do it on SB or MBC
