........with so much none boat related tattle hereabouts whether the concept of a general chit chat area common to all forums should not be reconsidered. It would be somewhere for the lunatics to feel at home in the asylum and would also make it easier for Kim and Co to identify and expunge stuff that is likely to represent a threat to their jobsworth ratings.

Blimey Boatone..............

..............here you go again, sticking your head above the parapet and inviting invective and malicious attack from all quarters.
What a stupid bloody idea.....next thing you know you'll be suggesting we should have public houses where people can get together for a pint and a natter instead of clogging up the aisles in Waitrose chatting about their corns and hip replacements...........

Public houses? wots' one of them? and I agree with Pauline, I don't get much news out here and as I've said BBC online still hasn't released any names!! So I have to get my news here! It's blowing bloody hooligans out here again, 53 knots, gusting up to 62 last night, bit inclement the weather at sea at the moment. Is taht enough boating content for you?

I dunno
is that wind caused by the canteen curry?

Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'you're making a scene'.

It would make it easier to find threads about boats.

"motor boat chat"...sometimes it's like going into a " one hour dy-cleaners" & finding out that it's just the name of the shop, & it'll be 3 weeks.

Naturally I'll be deleting this & putting it on website chat (or whatever it's called )

Many breakdowns ago in what seems like another life I suggested a Boaters Lounge area for all the inanity and innuendo type stuff where stinkpots, raggies and anything in between or around the periphery could meet on common ground. Seem to remember that a small number of very vociferous posters managed to drown the idea but I still think it has considerable merit.

Re: Telegram for Jobsworth

Sorry, no criticism of your spelling intended. Actually meant Jobsworth (sick) /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

As for a comment back, well it's 10 minutes for me to create such a forum and morethanmyjobsworth (oops) to do so without a decent debate.

So off you go then and let's see...

Oh, by the way it would be more logical for this to be achieved by the simple expedient of splitting MBC, to create the motorboat equivalents of SB and R to R.

bugger, now look what we've done!

obviously, the thread that "grew" generated quite a lot of unimportant information. it was considered that to promote a separate thread, with simmilar info on would be ineffective. the choice of some people to read through that thread, then to comment on how innane it was, in my opinion quite rude.

I for one do unfortunately take most of the responsibility for that. however. the forum got us together, people enjoyed themselves (p'raps a little too much), and much was discussed. that would not have happened if it were not for this forum, and all of the people on it.

very sorry and all that, steve.

Re: Telegram for Jobsworth

It begs the question a bit as to what happens to both MBC and SB if we attempt to strip out the chatty element. Do I take it the suggestion is for the equivalent of a smokers lounge where smoke = any chat not boating related?
