Is that REALLY real? Sitting here at my desk, still working at 1845 (grump), supervising exams, mouth fell open and had to squawk silently and replay.

The helicopter was in total control until a point,
At that point the clock counter clocked 3 seconds before it hit the water.
However 1/6 of that 3 seconds was all it took before it lost the point of no return, ie .5 second was all it took for the situation to get out of control.

IMHO the picture and evernt is real.

I agree a helicopter is most unstable machine. To try to control one in hover is described as trying to balance a pyramid upon it's apex. if ever you have dealings with a helicopter don't imagine it is nearly as stable as it looks.
