How does this forum work

As a comparative newbie, can someone explain why some of the reply numbers in the index are in blue and some are in brackets and red.

The number of replies in brackets in red are the number of replies you have NOT read.

The number in red brackets is the number of those replies that you haven't yet read.

I guessed that but tried it on one of my own postings and it didn't seem to work.

There we go - like you say, we must have too much time on our hands - esp when there is a 6 plus raging outside!

Then there are those that work shiftwork and don't forget those that have already 49 year and a lot of that on the graveyard shift. Continentle shift or just 7 days a week.
Now we can catch up on the missed boating. In 2 weeks time I start a 3 month cruise of Holland and I don't give an edam.

Brilliantly! You can often get quick and useful answers to all sorts of problems in less time than it takes to make a cup of tea. You can also get a load of bullsh1t but you will soon sort out who talks sense from the bull merchants.
