Re:Oi!!

Yer what...gotta problem?

Any resemblance between this story, any any character living , fictional , currently incarcerated in Jeffrey Archer's mind, or embedded in Edwina's body is purely coincidental.

Me........No,........ I've never made TB sick (well not physicallly as a result of a boat ride, to be more precise.)

After yesterday's macerator masterpiece , really shouldn't start you on vomit stories just before lubch should we!!

Och that was one of you lot that posted that one anyway! He's wanting to get the operation done and swing the other way! We're trying to housetrain him, and he's been sent off on an outwardbound course to learn to be a Scoutmaster before he's allowed back!

Thats too complex for me

I thought it was much simpler

1. Receive city bonus cheque (I'm talking 1999/2000 numbers)
2. Visit Poole and choose an engine wrapped up in the largest phallic-shaped tube possible
3. Give 25% of bonus of it to a purveyor of fine plastic.
4. Go for a demo with said purveyor
5. Buy Steve 101 accessories, and suitable blazer
6. Find a girlfriend

I thought that thats it. Surely there are no complications, like training?

Superstructure

If I have to remove the white flappy things, I want to build a huge superstructure. Can I have a flybridge, plus a fishing /look-out thingy Ive seen on US stinkpots?

Do you guys worry about windage, or is that merely the bowel problems of a raggie?

Last ever posting of Steve 101

Do you realise this is probably the last ever posting of Steve 101 left on the forum?

If we ask nicely, do you think the Fat Controller might preserve it for us. It might become something of value in the future.

Re: hah! obviously inexperienced

The one day training was is total lie with which they hook earnest and well-meaning newbies at the boat shows: if they sell several dozen boats and all take delivery within the first six weeks of the season, on Saturdays... then how can you all get a free day? The familiarisation is "it's that one at the end of the pontoon, no the other pontoon".

Anyway, i get the distinct picture that you are being a bit raggie cos of the awkward and total lack of drunkeness in your postings. Also, your poor wife thinking that "wet weather gear" is anoraks is a dead giveaway: it really means "waterproof lipstick and not-too-dangly earrings".

Re: Superstructure

The massive tall laddery bits from US fishing boats are frowned upon in the UK. Air draught is compromised, as is stability. Most of all, it looks very scary.

Eating healthily keeps windage at bay, but always best to have an air freshener just in case.

Fashion tips please

I was going to ask you about that, tcm. My current autumn gear is a pair of trousers with patches on the knees and bum presumably to prevent wear when kneeling down and grinding the winches. I normally have a couple of layers topped by an old fleece.

But, If I get a Mobo (Sorry, I think you explained that its just called a boat), and Ive got a flybridge ( And that extra tier for fishing - it must have a proper name, perhaps its the top layer of a wedding cake), and a warm inside, perhaps I should smarten up. Are blazers de rigeur, or passe? A few fashion tips would be much appreciated.

Smoking

When I was a raggie, I was really annoyed by the behaviour of a stinkie Mad Rain, and the way it came charging through the mass of boats during the tall ships parade. But now, I'm beginning to be somewhat impressed by his courage and bravery. I'm also beginning to think that the amount of black smoke it put out to be pretty impressive. Perhaps he is aspiring to get to the giddy heights of black plumes, as exhibited by the Fast Cats.

Tell me, I know I've only got a 20hp V***o (see, I'm learning) but I'd love to put out some black smoke. Is that what Soltron is all about? How many bottles do I add to get that Fast Cat look?

Pauline at home

Ah, this is your home, Pauline. Now I can see you as a gracious hostess, rather than that rather brash intruder into the raggie world on the other side.

Does she bite, guys?

Re: Smoking

Ah. Your getting there at last. The idea is. and the purpose of being close to the raggies at the time of the performance. Well it's a bit like a freeby red arrows show. Zooming round with big artisticly designed wake and accompanying smoke screen. Were working with Dom and Soltron on some more colours. Black is getting a bit dated now.

Try adding a gallon of oil to the next fill up. That should do the trick. Cant help with the wake though!!

Why do you park so far away from the sea

I dont understand why you guys park so far away from the sea. You seem to cluster at Port Solent and Chichester marinas. Why dont you get something closer to the sea? I'd be so pissed off by the long slow trawl down from these places, that the moment I was ouside the harbour walls, I'd gun those V****s and aim to get onto a full plane within 50m. I dont know why you are so patient? Has the M25, and M3/A3 lulled you all into sense of wellbeing and karma?

Re: Why do you park so far away from the sea

Ah but the trip to yarmouth is only five minutes if parked in hamble with a powerboat and they'd tell us to get lost we turned up at lunchtime.

And of course, it's not such a nasty frustrating drive down all the way past that blimmin Tescos at hamble and pushing in from the Wrong Lane (admit it!) or queuing into lymington which explains bad mood of so many raggies.

Re: Fashion tips please

hah, we'll all laugh at you in a blazer.

Bear in mind the high cost of diesel and of powerboats in the first place. PLUS all those lights, and even aircon and the price of shorepower lecky? All this means that running our boat at speed costs about 50 quid for ten minutes.

So, the appropriate garb is, of course, very old clothes. So really, it's us that should be called raggies...
