Arrived here early morning recently. Marineiro on dock side told us .no room and to anchor. So we did and went ashore to do the registration form filling later which was more long winded than usual but we did get a berth for rafting up.
Anchor fouled and wouldn't free although we had tripping line. Two guys in a dinghy said their anchor had fouled previous day; Aussie on the beam also fouled but got off after diving. We asked marina to pass on name of diver - they said it was national holiday and all closed but someone might turn out next day and they'd radio back. They didn't radio and we went ashore to find four diving kiosks all open next to marina office.
Good news was a diver plus a rib and two crew got anchor free and ferried to our boat for 50 Euros.
Bad news I reckon was that the hefty anchors and chain on the harbour bed are well known to the local admin but they are not marker buoyed and we weren't warned.
So a generally couldn't care less attitude including the service at the famous Peters Cafe Sport - we got fed up of waiting and also of the dismissive flicks of fingers by staff.
Complete contrast in Velas in Sao Jorge - jovial and helpful welcome from harbour master and room on pontoons.
