I am just roughly planning our dates for this years holiday cruise, and I notice that we are due to be around Henley when the festival is on.

Does anyone know what the availability of the moorings on Fawley meadow are during this period. Are they all usually pre-booked and at an extra cost to the normal £8, or is it a case that there are spaces and if you dont pre-book, you just pay the normal rate.

I wouldn't mind mooring there for one night, but don't wont to have to pre-book, as sometimes on our holiday we change the plan by a day or two depending on various things. I also don't really want to moor there if they are charging £20 or something like that.

In the good old days (10-15 years ago only) it did work like that, ie when HRR looked after the mooring on the meadow. But more recently it has become a definite book your space long beforehand, and at quite a price!

You may be lucky and find some space on the town mooring above the bridge but I wouldn't plan for it. You can always moor in the middle of the river on the booms but will probably be some way down river of the festival unless you get there early.

Good luck.

might give that idea a miss then as not that bothered enough to pay silly money (which I assume is at least £20). I wouldn't want to moor up on the public path as not keen on that spot.
Sometimes when there have been events on in Henley, we have moored overnight at Bushnells in Wargrave, which is right by the station and then caught the train into Henley and back. I may do something like that in this case.

well looks like I can forget about mooring at Bushnells as they have said they are full during that period. Spoke to Val Wyatts, and they wanted to charge £25 for one night, but with no electricity and not even on the side of the river as the marina !!

Just asked Steve about it Remenham is £25 for 24h or Fawley which is closer but almost full up on a pre book basis at £31/metre for a full week.
The council moorings above bridge on the right hand side going upstream after all the launch moorings are another option but will not be cheap as it is a popular event. If possible it is quite satisfactory to cruise up and down for the majority of the event then retreat to somewhere like Wargrave marshes or down at Medmenham.

Never mind mooring pins being hammered in I am beginning to think srb has CCTV in the tree trunks ;)

has anyone here moored at the Remenham site for the festival?
once you have paid for your mooring, can you then leave your mooring in your boat to go and enjoy the festival and then go back to it later? or if you do that, are you likely to find someone else moored in your space when you return.

Also, are you likely to suffer from speeding boats going by after the fireworks display in the evening? as we only have a small boat, we find it doesn't take much to really throw us about when boats go speeding by.

I think Steve will do a laminated reservation notice with boat name for the mooring spot but not certain - would be worth calling him to check that.
