Dear All

I write in hope that someone may be able to help me to identify a sailboat I recently purchased from an auction on EBay.

As an old dinghy sailor, I have been meaning to get back into sailing and, after a moment of of madness, I purchased a vessel which I don't know. The previous owner had no links to it either as he had purchased from a flat mate who has now moved to Spain. A bit farfetched I know but true. The man is the governor of a large school in London and I have no reason to disbelieve him.

She is currently parked on my drive and I intend to have a survey done soon. My intention is to have her cleaned up and launched but curiosity is driving me crazy. I would like to know what she is!!!

Anyway, I have posted several photos of Minnehaha on my personal web site http://www.zen33892.zen.co.uk

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Wagner

Thanks for telling me. DO NOT install anything. You are quite right.

I just put in a counter. I have just taken it out. Could you please try again.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Not much help but I've trawled through a late 70's catalogue which I have, and it's not in there. Are you sure that it's not a home finished job (bought hull, DIY deck)?

Re: Coribee?

Thanks Jim,

I wrote to the Corribee Owners Group asking is they have any idea.

I am not discounting anything at the moment.

Many thanks for your time.

Thanks anyway. She could very well be a home-finished job. The finish in some areas are a bit tatty.

Someone kindly suggested that she might be a Corribee. I contacted the Owner's Group to see if they can help.

Not an easy one, I am afraid.

Thanks,

Wagner

Definitely not a Corribbee - the Corribbee has a sloping and rather attractive transom, and the rudder stock passes throught the cockpit floor. Also the bow stem shape is rather different. The fin keel Corribbee had a moulded keel which was much fuller than yours. So no, defintely not

It looks to me very much as though it is a home build on a production hull moulding, in which case it will be quite difficult to track down her parentage, but the hull shape looks something similar to a Prelude moulded by Russel Marine.

Don't think so. There is no stern locker on the Hunter 19. Minnehaha has a 3ft locker back there. Plus she is definetely 20ft LOA.

Thanks anyway.

You are correct. The transom is rather vertical. No slope there. And the stem also looks different.

Only found 2 entries on the net about a Prelude. Neither has a photo.

I still think that the stern locker is the best clue to try to identify her!!! A 3 ft locker on a 20 ft boat??? seems odd to me.

Thanks anyway.

I've got a picture of the Prelude if you want, but it is 19' 3" LOA, beam 6' 10". Fin Keel draft 3' 9". It was supplied in kit form.

What is the beam of your boat?

Will measure it tonight. Out at work still (20:15).

I used a tape measure and, given bending and all she measured around 19'10". I do believe that the beam is a bit narrow (from the size of the cabin).

The draft should be around the 4 ft range. But still, that 3 ft locker to aft is the biggest mistery in my mind. And it is part of the GRP molding. The locker is definetely of GRP and not wood.

I wouldn't mind the picture please, if it is not much to ask.

Sincerely,

Wagner
