Hi all new here and i'm afraid I'm starting with a question.
I have the opportunity to get this boat for a bit of a steal but I have no idea what it is. As i'm getting it from a business and I'm not local all I know is its probably about 26ft long and I have a picture.
Any help identifying this would be greatly appreciated as I have a drying mooring and need to know what the keel arrangement is before I travel down for a boat thats potentially unsuitable

thanks for any help

aah how do i put an image up?

I have posted photos occasionally with Dropbox, and there are instructions here -

http://openboat.net/How to post pictures on the YBW forum.pdf

Alternatively here is a thread in the Lounge about this subject - a post in here helped me to finally cotton on how to do it.

And I am still doing something wrong when I try to apply this to your link as nothing happens (as per the link below) ...… however I am sure that somebody more savvy than me will be along in the morning to show us how to do it properly.

The reason you can't do it is because the URL refers to a file held locally on the OP's machine - that's never going to work.

If the OP wants to post his image without going through DropBox or whatever, click on the picture frame icon (with "insert Picture" alternate text) above the editing box. That will bring up a dialogue box with two tabs at the top - click on the one marked "from Computer" .Then click on the button at the bottome marked "Select Files", and use a file navigator will pop up - use that to find and select your pictire. Click on the relevant OK buttons, and it should appear.

That looks like a Falmouth Gypsy built by The Penryn Boat Building Co. probably in the late 60s or 70s … with an added little bowsprit. Warington-Smythe design I think. GRP thickness of industrial strength proportions so would do more damage to the rock if the occasion arose. After all these years though might have a soggy bottom so a surveyor is a must! Early ones were half inch ply. If it's not a Gypsy it's a very close relation!

Justdan has not been back on the site since 1 minute after submitting his post.

The information on Falmouth Gypsies will perhaps be of interest to others, though.

I was about to say the same thing, you got there before me LittleSister.

When I read post one I was going to say welcome and it's good to ask questions, I don't know anyone who might be offended by someone asking a question.

Kind regards

Skip
