Nope, got the @rse with their behaviour in Burnham Week in their dumb RCODs. Short tacking in a 35 foot cruiser shorthanded in the Roach, and was called on Starboard just because they could flick over the tiller and tack. Did not find their harumphing amusing in the slightest, so they can go fly a kite (or an ensign, or something).
Currently remain clubless, although I would consider joining Crouch YC if they drop the 250 quid joining fee.

Is the Pagglesham sailing association still going? Don't remember that costing much and it was friendly and fun! I do recall with great joy seriously pissing off a bunch of harrumphs with a blue ensign from a certain club on the Crouch when they attempted to insist that we move "we're racing can't you see" and I replied that we were racing too (different race) had right of way, our boat was heavier and more strongly built and they could fark orf, which they did but not before we heard a plaintive "I say! Did you hear what he said?" Hacked 'em off even more when I tacked 2 mins later! Happy days! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

2 of my mates have just restored RCOD's and joined the fleet having left the Etchells. Quite a feat for 80-odd year olds. I'd lay a wager that it was one of them. Don't give up on the place, I'm sure you would enjoy the club if only to give them a piece of your mind at the bar.

Think you mean the Roach Sailing Assoc based at Paglesham. Been trying to interest them in letting me join electronically. No luck so far, just an email refusing me admission to their Yahoo Group. Ah well, at least they arent letting me in easily.

yes Roach SA...it was a few years back when I was there but they did let me in...maybe that's what did for everyone else!
