Head torches

I've got a Petzle LED and filament head lamp, which is great at the chart table but don't look up at the helmsman whilst wearing it. Also a Petzle led only with a retracting cord head band. This one slips in the pocket well and is good for wearing in the tender on the way back from the pub.

There are many instances in everyone's normal day when you look down but don't turn your head down all the way. A tiltable lamp is essential for universal use.

I have a basic 2 AA's job normal torch bulb job that has a hinge to tilt down ... excellent. And more often its hinged slightly down in use ...

I've just been using the Energiser one a lot recently and it was just the ticket for a tenner. Easy to flick from white to red and comfortable to wear.

Well if you do get one I hope you won't be one of these blind people that have to use them when walking marina pontoons at night, flashing the damn thing all over the place.

petzel tak tikka or some such - try the outdoor gb website as i got mine from there. takes 3 AA's - lasts ages - has white leds with 3 levels of brightness and a red shade for preserving night vision, tilts so you can use easily at chart table - and is bright enough to inspect the sail trim without guessing - basically its the dogs dangly bits of head torches - don't waste money on the cheaper alternatives!

has to be petzel used them for years hillwalking in rain no bother. Went into the drink last year, head first, whilst tieing up to a mooring, it stayed on my haed and stayed alight the whole time, was very glad as it was dark foggy and raining at the time.
