If you found J.B. then you are on the right bit of Malaysia.
J.B. is down the bottom and K.B. is top right.
East coast has very nice people and prices - food - very good.
We are in a strong muslim state so booze is a wee bit more difficult to get.
Stay away from Kuantan and the " Club Med" types.

As regards pirates Mal / S'pore / Ind have put more patrols into the problem areas. Will be going back that way soon on the way to Burma to work. Stop off in S'pore for a few days to change the cement mixer and then up the Malacca Straits.

Lucky you - great place to be..

I came up from Darwin though Indonisia to Batam 18 months ago - Really did'nt get the feeling there was much pirate problem inshore on the Malay side - had a really nice time - loved the country - got to Phuket which was also good but got attacked and robbed by pirates off the Yemen - don't think I would go that way again.......

I just found the Malay facilities and places so luxurious and relativly inexpensive after several months in Indonisia - like two different worlds.
Have a good trip to Burma - didn't get that far - lost to much time in Phuket..
