i am thinking of building a 16 foot daysailer and like the sound of the Hartley Eastcoaster.it is a multichine daysailer with centerboard very wide beam and gaff rig with bowsprit.

Has anyone seen one or better still built one?

Owned many Hartleys and repaired all and rebuilt some of them. They were designed in such a way that the construction method for an amatuer boat builder is not to complicated.

The designs are a little old now and although they are good and in some instances seaworthy boats, they are definately not competitive raciing boats, but still get along quite nicely.

Thanks for the reply. As a youngster I built a hartley 16 trailor sailor .As you say the plans made it fairly straight forward .The Eastcoaster is a different boat altogether, still double chine but very beamy and with a gaff rig.

It looks great in the profile drawing but I have never seen a completed one or even a picture.
