Hammerite on Propellor

I am thinking about using Hammerite as a primer on the 2 bladed Folding Prop of my sailing cruiser. Based UK East Coast

Has anyone tried it and how well did it "hang on". Was it successful ?

Thanks

Thanks Thalassa I think I will give it a try, the worst that can happen is that it will fall off.. Good point about letting it cure before immersing it, but unfortunately I will not be able to do that.

It will be interesting to see if the Hammerite hangs on to the Prop, and if the A/F sticks to the Hammerite.

But you never know, It might work and I will be doing a major service to Boatingkind.

prop coating

Just bought a boat and an old hand in the yard where the boat was out of the water said to coat the clean matel surface in fire grate black creme. It is a product used for years to stain metal fire grates. Dont know if it worked yet but got good hopes, accidentally left the rag which i applied it on the bonnet of my old white Vovo 240, 4 weeks later and after all atempts the stain will not come out of the paint.

oh that's let a cat out if the bag the greenies will be after that black lead still avail !

I have used Hammerite Special Metals primer on two props. It sticks amazingly well and does not come off. Highly recommended on the basis of EXPERIENCE.
If adding anti foul you need to prime again but in forming a bond to the bronze I have found it is great.
Hammerite is a brand name for a range of paints so saying it is all carp may be an unfair generalisation. (no connection to Hammerite and with profound apologies to the UK Carp Anglers Federation)

Thank You

Thanks Halo, Thallasa & Vyv Cox for answering the question. Although I still dont understand what a fresh water fish has to do with it

I used hammerite special metals primer on my outdrive and then black Smoothrite as top coat.

Damn Smoothrite will not stick to their own primer and peels off.

Absolute carp.

Etching primer and 2 pack done professionally next time. :(
