I am assuming you do not have to comply with any classification society regulations? If not then I personally have been impressed with Pyrogen (they are on the web, sorry do not have the address), the bottles/cannisters are small and compact, the product seems very effecient and in my mind the most appealing factor is that it causes very little damage (similar to Halon) if discharged in an engine compartment.

I don't know if there is a marine version of it, but most installations which I've seen where there would have been Halon now use something called FM200.

There have been several threads on halon replacement in the last few months. Try a search on 'halon'.

Check out the following website for info about FM200 Halon replacement. www.seafire-extinguishers.co.uk

It is more expensive than Halon but then Halon was never installed correctly anyway. There must be a way of shutting down the engines, or at the very least an alarm, otherwise all the expensive agent gets sucked straight out and your boat burns to the water!

Hope it helps.
