GUNWHARF QUAYS

What is this place all about ? I have on three seperate occasions tried to go alongside for a short stay of a couple of hours so the missus can do the shopping thing while I am doing my boating thing. In the real world it is almost a perfect compromise. But the whole thing turns pearshaped when the harbourmaster strolls
along to inform us that of all the ten empty berth spaces we can see non of them
are available not even for an hour because there are boats due in.
And to cut down on the yarn these boats never do arrive and the pontoons are left empty all day and night. Are they there to collect revenue or not I think not ,
I think that this facility was created to look at and not to be used unless you are
a hundred year old square rigger that gives the landlubbers something nice to look at whilst lazing in the tapas bars ashore

far too much of that bad attitude about, drive me up the wall, they call it being "boatist" I think. Stike the pose - place you index finger under your nose and push sharply upward :)

Get that where I moor and mostly from people without a boat!!

I agree entirely. They seem to have an inflated idea of what they're about. I managed to berth there shortly after it opened; the harbour master did'nt appear to have a radio and could'nt take any money and clearly did'nt want any visitors. Basically its all for show
Anyway, you dont want to berth there because the wash from passing commercial traffic is hideous and local yoofs lob beer cans at you

Moored at Gunwharf several times last season for short stays with no problems. They did seem a bit disorganised on a couple of occasions though. Not tried it this year, the wife spends too much if we go there!
