Gunfire!!!

Disposal of munitions often takes place over there & a few years back we saw a massive fireworks display over there from the Swin, looked like cluster bombs going off.
Also a friend was in the Army & did a munitions disposal course over there, part of it was disposing of .50 cal browning ammo, basically they were given a lorry load of the stuff & two machine guns plus spare barrels & told "shoot that lot off". It took them some time.

We often hear automatic gunfire from Wivenhoe but not so often the big stuff, though that often seems prominent at Brightlingsea or Walton. It is a salutary reminder of what our boys sometimes have to face.

Depends on wind direction. Here in Rowhedge we get Chinooks playing with the boys at the ranges as well.

We recently have had Chinooks going over Upnor during the hours of darkness and the odd Black Hawk going over during the day.
They all seem to be coming from the East and heading directly towards London.
You can hear them coming from miles away.
