Guilty

Sorry, I was down there yesterday and about to go again today :)

As the Swedes say, there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing. Padded lumberjack shirt, down jacket, woolly hat, and some thin gloves just in case (didn't actually need them) and I was perfectly comfortable on deck. Jacket was too warm for working below.

Fitted new tiller yesterday, down tomorrow with sailmaker new sails are in the offing :D oh and maybe some sailing... Lets hope for some fine weather...

I'm feeling very guilty ! I should be down on the boat cleaning etc but its too damn cold, tell me I'm not alone !!!!

No your not, though in my defence I did bring back various bits that need varnishing. Just about to crank up the space heater to get things warmed in the workshop

The work I need to do is outside in the wind and out of the sun if it came out. Another job is the antifoul, and it is to cold even for that stuff. I like to be ready for an Easter sail, but this year seems unlikely and I suspect that I'm not the only one.

You are not alone.

I a truck load of items I want to get done, however the 'wet season' has decided to return with a vengeance here on the East coast in the tropics in Oz.

Good luck and fair winds. :)

Welcome to the wimps' club!

I worked outside on my boat for a couple of days last week. It was ok whilst I was in the cockpit destroying the Morse-Teleflex engine control (see separate thread) but when it came to working on deck exposed to the biting wind I "made an excuse and left", as the News of the World reporters used to say.

Absolutely ;) Last "summer" in UK made me left my new/old boat ashore and head south instead...
Would be impossible anyway to do anything on deck, in rain horizontal. All fitting out and replacements postponed for this spring. Or so I hope. Haven't been there for half a year now, but then it's a long way. :o

We live 400 miles from Capricious, so if we're there, we have to work whatever the weather! But I am quite glad we're not there, and my brother has kindly done a few odd jobs for me. This year isn't an anti-fouling year (it only needs doing every second year on the Clyde), so at least we don't have that to look forward to.

+1

Was out yesterday too.

I was on the boat most of yesterday, and today I've been working in my garage with the door open making new locker lids. Yes it's a bit chilly, and yes it was snowing on my table saw when I took it outside, but it's NEVER TOO COLD FOR BOATING!!!

I'm hoping to go out for a sail next weekend weather permitting so there's no excuse for not being ready at Easter! Why not do the antifoul in August like I did? Shorts and t-shirt make the whole process a lot easier :D

Anti-fouled last week when it was warmer and hoping to put the sails on this weekend, drain the old diesel out, put in fresh and put water bag in and a few other jobs. I was a good boy yesterday and went to work so i am repairing my tatty spray-hood although without the heating on it's warmer outside than in!
