Re: Interesting background to the crossing

Interesting to see that Matthieu from Outremer was there on the pontoon after they had done the arrival stuff with the press. Huge publicity for the brand.

Interesting to see that Nikki seems to be getting all the crew limelight rather than Riley and Elayna (as far as the UK is concerned from what I can see). She's going to have quite a career ahead of her I think - she's able to string a decent sentence together to the media. Anyhow, good luck to them all - I wouldn't have done it.

Re: Interesting background to the crossing

There is a strong link in this media performance with Outremer. They sponsored the La Vagabonde YouTube channel with a special deal on the cat owned by Elayna and Riley. Cornell also has recently bought or ordered a cat from Outremer and got involved in recruiting La Vag for the gig. Then the sales Director of Outremer, Matthieu was present on their arrival.

Clever Outremer.

This is well known. Matthieu seems very supportive of his customers. Here's another big cat owner (Lagoon 52S) switching to Outremer's latest 2020 model which is a little more cruising orientated (apparently - details have not beeen released yet). Video (5min) shows their quick visit to the factory with the ever-present Matthieu on hand.

Re: Interesting background to the crossing

I reckon she would have thumbed a lift on a passing Westerly Sealord...

I reckon she would have missed the conference......

Electric vehicles?
Not sure how far it is from the Darien Gap to Guayaquil but the bus from Guayaquil to Santiago takes about 96 hours .... and there is zero 'electric car' infrastructure along the way.

I read a report that with her 'illness' she was not able to sail TO USA and joined the yacht few days before it arrived .... true or not ??

So what changed now for her to sail the worst time of year and direction West to East ?

Where did you read that report? She was on board Maliza for their East/West crossing, they posted photos and video the whole way across.

I am now thinking of where these items may be obtained. We do have a friend who is a professional yachtswoman and who looks very good in a bikini but whenever we see her she is swathed from head to toe in well worn and rather grubby Musto oilskins, which would ruin the effect.

Might be able to negotiate a suitable fee ?

Must close off before she sees I posted it ... !!
