Got the new DEKPA today in Preveza

If its any comfort they accepted my coastal skipper ticket for my original DEKPA they also accepted sailaboutvic's driving license so probably not a problem. I agree what a palaver they make out of it all. Its another EU country why not just take the 50 euros and give you the new DEKPA?

The answer to your question has someone said is , blowing in the wind :)

This is my problem as well, I go back to Thailand in august so unsure how it will be even though my boat will be out the water then,,,,But if I can find a PP who can issue the new one in my area,,,, North evia area,,,, Maybe At chalkis bridge they have an official office there,,,,or up in Volos....

Unlikely that we will get to Greece this year but the boat is there. There is no way I know of to prove that we did not use the boat in 2017, although I suppose the marina would write something to say that we did not launch. This would not apply if we wintered in the water. I would be interested to know how we/they will cope with that?

Just by way of info, this is a friend's account of how getting a new DEKPA at Chalcis (Evia) this week:

Visit Port Police and get an application form. Information needed is pretty standard, name, boat name, type, engine type etc etc. If there are more than one owner of the boat then this is a good time to tell them.

The police should then send you to the tax office to pay ... but as the nearest one is 10Km away they have an arrangement with a 'civic office' located in the park next to the marina. There you present your passports and they print off another form which you take to the Bank for pay the €50. We chose to pay at the 'National Bank of Greece, which turned out to be a bit of a nightmare. It seems that we picked the day when everybody has to pay their utility bills, the place was heaving. It took 2 hours.

After paying in the bank you then take the payment receipt back to the port police, produce your ships papers, passports, sailing qualifications, mooring fee receipt and insurance docs which they will photocopy.

They will then tell you when you can collect your new Dekpa. It seems that it's normally a 2-3 day wait, but we told them we were leaving early on Friday, so they said we could collect on Thursday around 3.00pm.

I understand the PP has been experiencing some software glitches since their recent adoption of the Gregorian calendar.

So Mac did your friends have to do it twice ? or or did you post it twice so the most stupid of cruisers got the picture ? :)
Basically the same process we did and what others We know ,went through except we got the DEKPA the same day .

DEKPA FROM LOUTRO
having read read the posting it is clear the the new DEKPA is going to be the host paper work for the Cruising tax. As this is either a monthly or annual tax then the launch and hauling stamps are the mark of the vessel being out of use. The monthly stamps are the record of monthly payments.

So there will be monthly stamping when the tax comes in but hopefully not this year. No doubt it will just happen. It looks like instruction to the PP have all ready been issued!
So boats left in the water will have to pay 12 months? Even if unoccupied or face fines. Will we be trapsing round tax offices to pay each month?

Trying to get info from the Greeks resembles blood from stone.

So the Loutro poster has got it wrong or rather PP got it wrong but definitely a sign board to the tax. Thank you for that.

Chris , I can't see how this would be the cast ,
WHY? The new DEKPA
The first two pages are 10 boxes all for owners and skipper details
Next page user details ( 4 boxes )
Next two pages 8 boxes for arrival and departure
The next two pages looks like more info on the user including embarkation and disembarking .
Which leave one page with five boxes for yearly stamp .
Where are they going to put a monthly stamp . If they where to use the five boxes that would mean the DEKPA would have to be renew every five months

Sorry, the double-posting was (paradoxically) due to a lousy internet connection. Now deleted. I think you'll find that almost all the stupid cruisers have been recruited by the Ministry of Shipping.

I realise the process is much the same as other places. The three-day wait isn't. Anyone who wants to avoid that might care to avoid applying for their DEKPA at Chalcis, a decision they can only make if they know about it.

Just an additional point, the new DEKPA, we are informed by PP in Preveza is valid for 12 months from the date of it being issued, in our case 24th April, if we do,not have it stamped be that date next year we will have to reapply and go through the full process again. We can have it stamped in July when we leave the boat in the yard here in Greece, but this will take up another one of the five places for annual stamps, thus the document will only be valid for 2+ years.
Looks as if the Greek government wants to control the timing of our annual trip out to Greece next year, or have a 'stealth' increase in costs!
Surely one stamp anytime in 2017, then another on anytime in 2018 would be more user friendly?

Further to my post #65, another option for anyone who might not want to spend three days waiting for a new DEKPA in Chalcis:

three neighbouring boats here in Halkoutsi (mainland side of Evia Channel) bought DEKPAs a few days ago in Oropos, a few km to the east. The process was evidently straightforward, and payment relatively quick. Above all, the PP required sight of only the one passport, the applicant's. In the case of one boat with dual owners, only the passport number of the owner not present was required. Nor was sight of the absent owner's qualifications required.

I wish I could say the same .On Tuesday some friends launched and went to the male port police without any sailing qualification and had a stamp in their old DEKPA.

Armed with this knowledge I went in with all my paperwork and Masters ticket the same that I have used for over 20 years out here .Three beautiful and charming Port police women on duty, very helpful and efficient they started the procedure for a New Dekpa until they could find no ICC. Which stopped everything dead. They would not fill out the new one without certification and said my Masters ticket was not correct for a 13 m sailboat.

The good new was they said my old stamp was good up till the end of August and to go sailings and don't worry. .

The August deadline is the 1 year anniversary from the new DEKPA law, which is the absolute deadline for getting the new DEKPA format for everyone - even if your stamp lasts until November 2017. Shame about them not accepting your Masters ticket.

Are you saying this happened at Oropos, rtboss? Wherever it was, it might be helpful to others to know.

The crashing irony, of course, is that Greece is not a signatory to the international convention which created the ICC. Officially, it cannot issue ICCs, nor does it recognise them. I wonder what boaters from Spain, Portugal, Sweden and any of the other countries which aren't signatories are expected to do.

Sorry Aegina .

Well we got our new dekpa in Preveza this morning. One (1) hour from start to finish. All in all a not unpleasant experience BUT beware! If you don't get your second stamp within one year exactly, ie same date next year, the whole process has to be redone. Even one day over means you must start again.
I just love Greece!
