She's got no safety line, so I am sceptical. Owners of speedboats can't be that stupid, surely.
I would cite the thread about the little get-together on Lake Travis, Texas.

Edit: But do either of them own the speedboat? Should one be asking "Are owners of sailboats that gullible?" or "Are owners of marinas that negligent of other people's property?"

They can be stupid in many ways (same as sailboats I suppose) - nobody is perfect.

Not the stupidest example I've seen, but you could see it coming: boat overloaded in rolly conditions, then another speed boat comes past throwing up a big wake.
