Anchorage and smallcraft moorings off the dock in sheltered estuary.

No fresh crab or cream teas mentioned in McMillans.

Douglas 63 miles

Holyhead 79 miles

Dun Leery 130 miles

Padstow 259..... thats a bit more like it 3 1/3 degrees south and twice as sunny.

Now thats the answers I was looking for. So no crobs or cream teas. Better stay with long John then. Down in Plymouth. Besides theres no need to anchor in the river at Glasson cos theres no water there most of the time. and it does say in the marina window. Lock open three quarters of an hour before high water till HW. So if blink miss it!!

You could try whitehaven - only been once, handy for IOM, Scotland, 1/2 tide access loadsa pubs cheapish and, if you like that sort of thing, bracing walks in the Lakes. Maryport is OK too.

I know this sounds sorta silly, but have you tried the train. I did it once from here to the boat. It was actually a bit faster than the car and I slept all the way. Depends of course if you live on/near fastish main line station. Lets face it you drive the car there a then park it up for the duration your on the boat. Just a thought and plymouth is on the main line, isn't it!

OK, to hell with it. Unbolt it and we'll use it as an anchor!

Hmm. Have done it once by train. Cant remember the result though. So I was obviosly not impressed. Also trains dont seem to know how much to charge these days. 20 quid if ordered this way or 20000 if ordered another way. Ges what it nearly always the other way!

As much as I'd hate to encourage yet another northerner down here, you really should make the move and come live somewhere civilised!

Of course you have to leave behind flat cap, whippets, pigeons, etc and Tutts' hair curling rollers would be confiscated at the Someset border.

But I reckon you can make the transition. Weather down here is better too.

If you come back up here Haydn I will no longer have the southern Irish Sea to myself.

Then I may even have to start keeping a lookout when I go from Preston to Douglas or Conwy.

As it is now, as long as I miss the gas platforms I don't need to look out of the windows, it would be quite a shock to have to alter course to miss you.

Better you stay down south, it'll keep both our insurance premiums down. Then I'll be able to continue simultaneously boating & womanising in peace.

The flaggy thing was waiting for me when I got home last weekend - thanks.
