"4 hours ago, The Lilibet, UK flagged 50m fisheries Patrol vessel approx 300 miles South of Puffin is heading towards Ian's position ETA 29 hrs. Just received info the fishing vessel ZI DA WANG 90 NM off PUFFIN will attempt rescue, eta 11th at 1900 UTC depend on weather."

It'll be a long day....
Intelligence suggests that there is an A330 Voyager in the Falklands. Wonder if that has been tasked?

Two Taiwanese fishing vessels are tasked, with one 'due to arrive on scene about 1700UTC'.
The Lilibet has been released.
Ian H-J has communicated that he is mobile, able to climb a ladder, has charged-up comms, and is due to check his engine and steering function for manoeuvring.

The latest word from GGR HQ is 'There's a Taiwanese fishing vessel about 3 miles away' but nothing further.
So your guess is as good as theirs....

Ian had been in heavy weather for a full day already but was unable to deploy his drogue as the wind intensified. It was in a stern locker. Not trailing a drogue or warps made it difficult to keep Puffins stern into the waves and avoid being rolled by the building sea.
The conditions soon became overwhelming as the boat could not be held direct downwind. In fact, at 1930 UTC Puffin had been rolled and dismasted. GGR HQ

'Puffin's still afloat.

And Kirsten is now on the tail of Simon Curwen, going faster....
Abhilash is further west, as he has been for weeks. Perhaps he'll pick up strong westerlies before the others.

Simon is constantly faster.
I know he is a great sailor but so are the others.
Simple question, Did he have a hull clean when laid up in Chile?
Can't find any mention, but it stands to reason that if he had a chance to clean her up he would have,

This, from the Maritime Executive....whoever!

Luckily, a Taiwanese lift-netter - the Zi Da Wang - was located nearby. The fishing vessel diverted from its commercial operations and transited to meet up with the disabled Puffin, arriving at about 1740 UTC on Tuesday. The crew of the Zi Da Wang made a lee for the Puffin to come alongside, then retrieved Jones from the stricken yacht. The Zi Da Wang is believed to be headed to Cape Town, where it will deliver the injured sailor to shore for medical treatment.

The Puffin, unfortunately had to be scuttled as a hazard to navigation.

Would anyone here be surprised if another Taiwanese lift-netter came alongside, netted the Puffin, and lifted her on board - claiming salvage...?

Looks like Abhilash has found slighly better breeze than Kirsten - and there's only about 50nm DTR between them, according to the tracker.

What would the salvage value be of an old 35 foot boat with destroyed rig and salt water damage to engine, electronics and interior? Suspect near to zero (particularly in S America) and certainly not worth there time and effort.

I s'pose that depends on where it was off-loaded..... and the perspectives of prospective buyers.
What would it fetch if offloaded in, say, Falmouth or Plymouth?

I'll start the ball rolling....

If it floated and steered, I'd fork out £7000, put it in a cheap yard, and do a 'fixerupper' on it.

And everybody on here would (rightly) warn you to spend the money on a boat that was complete (with rig, engine, electronics etc) and in sailable condition and not waste your money of an old boat that is a “project” with most of the expensive bits missing or damaged.

Abhilash ( 1770DTG ) is currently about 10% faster than Kirsten ( 1750DTG ), with about 40nm further to go - according to the tracker.

Puffin's tracker is still afloat...
