The norwegian sea, is not a very hospitable place, but they do not get tornadoes (water spouts) not until yesterday that was! About 10:00 yesterday I was observing a very black storm front, cloud base 2000 feet (confirmed) when a tornado started to develope, very quickly, it reached sea surface appox 10 miles away, it was black, the sea was being chucked up in the air and all over the place to about 700 feet up! even from 10 miles I could see the turmoil on the sea surface, boats were high tailing it away from the contact area, quickly!! another two tornadoes started to develope behind this first monster, just as bad, they disipated before fully developing. it was a frightening scene, if that had developed with a sail/motor boat in it's path, I've no doubt of the outcome, the water spout continued for about 3/4 of an hour, going across the horizon from me, I shall remember that sight, for a long time and from now on make very sure I try and stay away from storm fronts like that one! What the hell is going on with the weather! This is definitely not normal.

Dont think it was the same ones, too far away from here, but it could have been the same storm front, I'll have a look at the sat photos around the time of the storm front and get back to you.

I looked at silver sula, when in salcombe, she needed a lot of work, even the fuel tanks had split and needed renewing, along with a lot of internal woodwork, as she been stripped of varnish inside and then left, the timber hads mildewed, a mess!she had a big double bed in the aft cabin, put in by the frenchman I wonder why!! and they wanted too much money, she was then owned by a frenchman and registered in Montreal!! I saw Englander the next day, the rest is history. She is a silver ormidale. not a very good one I'm afraid, her original build was compromised, with inferior materials, although she does have or had cummins engines. I hope she got the work and money she needed. Still a nice boat.

I did hear she'd had a lot of work done on her, but how true that is I dont know, she is definitely worth saving.

Hi
quite common around the Gower coast in the summer/autumn, although no where near a fierce as the one you describe, still do not fancy getting caught up in one, as they tend to cut the sea up quite badly, quite an eerie sight !!
