Lynn commented (in her absent minded manner) last week that I am 'Genuinely Middle Aged'. She didn't imply that this was a bad thing, it has just occurred to her after a year of living together that I have lost my urge to leap around competing with 25 year olds, and to accpet and adapt to my increasing infirmities with a degree of resignation.
My favourite TV from the last year was Grumpy Old Men, and I disdain anyone who watches the telly for more than a couple of hours each week.
I don't own a mountain bike or ridiculous lycra/spandex wear ( I would look like Dafydd from Little Britain), and am actually quite proud of my rounded shape.
A lot of my friends are splitting into my camp or the 'Lets go Extreme Snowbording off K2' style of thing.
Am I just giving in, or I am right to think that my under developed mates look faintly ridiculous(more so as time goes on)

Seems to me that at last you have started to concentrate on the important things in life. It is better to appreciate skill and energy expenditure (sports, general exercise) in those young people who still don't know any better, than beat yourself up trying to compete. After all, we all know that given your experience, you COULD outdo them should you feel so inclined, so what is there to prove? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Quality of life needs tasting, savouring, and thoroughly enjoying.

So join the EUP's (the Exercise Unnecessary People) who really now how to live!

My favorite bumper sticker, which I've adopted as my motto is

"I may be middle aged, but I refuse to grow up"

Definition of middle age:
"The age at which, having painted the town red, you decide to wait a while before applying a second coat."

Grumpy old men version:
"If the town needs painting, the Council should do it. I pay enough bloody tax to them. Besides, I HATE red"

\"Wicked\"....

I'm reliably informed that "Flexin'" is the new "Wicked". Make what you will of it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
