Gaz prices for 907

As 907 cylinders are getting expensive I invested in a cheap mains kettle at Asda. Cost less than a tenner.
Whenever I'm on shore power I now try to remember to use the mains kettle. As I use it for washing, dishes, tea, coffee etc I reckon my gas lasts twice as long as before. Top tip from a tight wad.

After being stunned by the CG prices in France, compared to Portugal, I looked in the parts bin and made an adapter to refill the 907 from a 13 kg. These, from Carrefour, are €26 at the moment. No brainer.

We bought a small mains kettle from a caravan shop (Kampa bubble kettle ) which was not expensive. Its compact dimensions fit well with our galley it is and easy to stow away , we retained the packaging. . Always use it now when connected to mains power. Saves gas but our marina electric bill has increased a little , of course.

If anyone wants to know the parts required to make a fill-your-own 907 setup I've just sent someone on here the parts number list for the three bits you need from BES plumbing supplies. PM me and I'll send you a copy of the list.

A smidge over £30 in April in St Mary's, Scilly. Wasn't impressed having been paying about £22 the previous year but from reading this thread it seems like that's fairly standard.

That's almost £11 per kg of gas, yet if you buy approximately the same amount of gas in disposable cartridges from the same company it's £6.80 per kg... (choosing a 12 pack which is about the same amount of gas as a 907).

Buying a box of 28 from other manufacturers gets the price of gas down to £4.85/kg, so less than half the price for the gas in a 907 refill. Puts into perspective the rip off cost of 907's.

This is just a comparison of the cost of gas, so no need to point out how life threatening flat stoves are to incompetent users.

Our best exchange was also Cape Verdes at less than €5, the most expensive being Gibraltar @ £25 - both in 2012. The cheapest refill other than those done ourselves was Malta (2012) at about €4 and the most expensive was Pedro in Cienfuegos, Cuba @ US$55 - his original quotation was $27.50, but then he doubled the price and held our bottle hostage; barsteward.

Curremtly cruising in Ireland. Went to change my 907 in Dublin and was told that the only filling machine on Ireland is broken so no exchange cylinders for the foreseeable future. It's like when the lights go out you stop worrying about the cost and just wish the infrastructure was decent.

Just got a 907 refill for £22.80 from a marina.

Can accommodate any vessel as long as it draws lest than 18" or so.

'fraid it's Brooke St Marina in that yachting Mecca........ Macclesfield. Suspect the price may be wrong as every where else was £29.90. As others have said "What a rip off!"
