Gaz prices for 907

Thanks everyone for your input. Didn't realise you can de-cant from a large cylinder into a small. Thought you'd be hit with all sorts of H & S stuff. Will look into this. has anyone got more details on doing this??

There's quite a distinction in price between places that just get the bottles refilled at a a local plant (Around €10-€12 in Greece) to getting the bottle refilled yourself (€6 in Sicily) to places (mostly western Europe) where the bottles are shipped back to CG where they are refurbished and refilled (€20-€40 depending on country).

Replacement bottles in France and Spain are usually shiny and new, whilst bottles obtained in Italy and Greece are often looking somewhat worse for wear.

Still rip-off prices in the UK and France, but there is a difference in the service being provided.

£35.50 in Kirkwall, Orkney.
I had already baulked at £38.00 in Lochinver but last chance before Norway has forced my hand.

How do you private someone now? I've tried sending a private message to Fred but it just won't work for some reason.

A smidge over £30 in April in St Mary's, Scilly. Wasn't impressed having been paying about £22 the previous year but from reading this thread it seems like that's fairly standard.

Camping Gas who`s bottles are refilled in England by Calor is a total rip-off. many boat owners have little choise as the design of their boats have small gas lockers that are designed for CG ony

Why dont the sailing, camping & caravan mags do an investigation into gas prices, take CG to task

Thirty three quid for an exchange 907 at my local builders' merchants last week. That's very close to half what they charge for a 47kg cylinder of propane. It's only a mild irritant, though, because the cost of gas (I get through 1 1/2 907s per year on average) is a trivially small part of the cost of running the boat.
