Gangway problems

I've got a besenzoni hyraulic gangway fitted on my new boat, it is rated to lift 250 kgs. I have bought an Avon Rib for it weighing about 220kgs with engine. I have had a phone call from the engineer who was fitting chocks to the platform saying it won't lift it and he can't do anything about it -too busy as always!!
We are going to the boat on Friday but don't want to be messing around getting work done as we are off to Mallorca for a couple of weeks.
Questions :
1) If the boat has been standing for a week or 2 would he need to fire her up to give the gangway enough "umph" to lift it?
2) Can anyone suggest a likely reason for it not lifting it?
3) Can anyone recommend a suitable "hydraulic gangway engineer" based anywhere near Denia, Spain?

does the passerelle lift the dinghy at all? If it does not reach the lifting height it could be that the ram has not been fitted in the correct position or there is not enough oil in the resovoir.

I'm not sure about the battery, I'm hoping this is the problem. Not a lot I can do now until tomorrow.
I'll get more info, thanks for the help.

Your spot on, I don't - the engineer was a German, on the end of a mobile phone, muttering "it vill not livt". He wants to just leave it until I get there to show me "it vill not livt"!
No it's not on the platform yet. I will get someone down there in the morning to have a good look and report back.

I have the same rated Pas and an Avon Jet Rib 320. I had problems when the boat was new as the hydraulics shut down. However its worked fine since then, except if the rib is completely full of fuel I have to lift therib our of the water then once clear of the bath platform start to retract. This over comes the lever effect. What boat is the Pas fitted to.

It's on a Phantom 43. When the hydraulics shut down was there any sign or did it just stop working and was the repair simple?

Sorted - It wouldn't lift more than 2-3 foot out of water. Engineer came today and "upped pressures" - no reponsibilities accepted by the manufacturer.
It now works, but I have been warned that it is close to the limit and to be careful.
I think that means I've got to bring it back to the boat with no fuel.
Thanks for all the comments, I'm off on holiday!

I think that means "becareful not to rip the transom off the back of the boat". Your engineer would have adjusted the pressure screw on the pump. To do this you have to break a lead seal therefore invalidating the warranty. The rating of the crane is often wound down from the plated weight as the crane mounting reinforcement has to be taken into account (ie. the transom). Just make sure everything is out when you lift it (fuel, oars, water trapped in hull).
