I need to get my 45lb CQR anchor re-galvanised over the winter, but have had no luck locally (chandlers and plating companies) in finding someone who will do it. I'm based in Plymouth, so a South West contact would be ideal.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Gary Miller

There's also South West Galvenizers at Crediton. Their phone no is 01363 774574. They are on the Lords Meadow Industrial Estate.

Don't go direct to a galvaniser. They will have a minimum charge, and will make the small job very expensive. Go to yellow pages and find a company that makes trailers (boat/horse tow-behind car stuff) They will have a pile of stuff that goes to a galvanising shop on a regular basis, and most of them are quite happy to include additional items at the cost of the additional galvaising that has been used. Thius makes it MUCH cheaper.

I had the need to get some chain plates galvanised some years ago for the mizzen stays of my Harold Meers built beach boat and I took them to a galvanisers across the Torpoint ferry I'm sure it was called Palbathic Galvanisers. I had a word with the yard manager and he said to get them put in with a batch they were already dipping nice man , great service, cost £15 probably beer money but nice to know some people are willing to help rather than try to see you off !!
