We all come on here to have a gripe now and then, nothing wrong with that as long as names arnt mentioned and firms cant be identifide. Like kev says, what is it these days, that folk have to back up the wrong do'ers. Maybe it's cos thats how other folks make there living and feel a bit threatened???

Re: The poor little \"victim\" of society...

"He probably deserved a good kicking form his victims also."

His name was Mr Fox. Does that change things? ;-)

As an aside, TCM's point about the new procedures is absolutely correct - if anyone else is faced with the same situation, they need to make sure they understand the new rules and follow them to the letter.

Strange after all this talk of dismissal a booklet just landed on my desk from the dti titled "New laws for resolving disputes" Havent read it yet so I have no point to make, just thought it a little weird and profound. Any one else got one ?, I bet you have.

Errm - what disclosure??

I have sifted thru most (admittedly not all) of this thread and can find no disclosure of 1) DERF's name 2) DERF's company 3) Location of DERF or his company 4) The individual 5) The staff that had to work with said individual.

Being as how the main gripe with DERF is disclosure in public forum, what exactly (other than the misdemeanor and its result) has been disclosed??

Errm - nothing!

The only other fault you could pick is that the whole fred is NB - but there are loads of them on here anyway.

Just a thought...

Re: Errm - what disclosure??

I agree Dave. I dont know about the curious incidents in Derf's workplace (and anything I wd say would be dubious quality, my only knowledge of employment tribunals is being on the receiving end of one when I fired someone a few years ago and he hired lawyers etc, the full monty). But imho the lashings handed out to Derf aren't at all fair, and are not becoming of this forum. He is just chatting on here like the rest of us, there has been no disclosure of anything private at all, nor is it fair to deduce he's a bad manager etc.

In particular, calling a fellow poster an arrogant low achiever is rude and not how we try to behave on this forum. Disagreeing is fine, but personal remarks like that, especially based only on a short post so no real possession of all the facts, is not cricket and it would be nice if it were withdrawn. (I dont know Derf, but he tootles about in a targa 52, so I'd need a bit more convincing to call him an under achiever......)

More Earl Grey anyone? :)

Re: Errm - what disclosure??

Yeah - thats what I was thinking. It all got a bit personal and a bit nasty. Sort of DERF bashing for no real reason, and totally disproportionate to the original post.

I thought Kim would have pulled this one for various reasons.

DERF - If you read this, don't be put off.

BTW - If owning a Targa 52 is low acheivement, then me and my Windy will just crawl back under that dirty stone in the corner...

Re: Errm - what disclosure??

I'm with you guys on this, not sure why this thread blew up in the way it did.

DERF came on here to chat (hence the forum name), alright its NB but thats not unusual on here. The way I read it he was trying balance his reaction and was seeking views on here - again thats not unusual on here for a number of topics - so why the hostility?

The personal insults were totally uncalled for and should be retracted IMHO

Gee guys, thanks for your moral support. I guess I thought people were playing Devils advocate.... until the personal insults started...

I'm not put off, but that'll teach me for posting NB stuff on here I guess.

Yes there was no need for the personal insults. Thought folk on here had grown passed that long ago and it says much more about them than it does of you, so dont worry about it. Oh and carry on posting none boaty stuff just like the rest of us. You've said nothing to be ashamed of.

Re: Errm - what disclosure??

Hear, Hear. Have re-read both posts, I got the impression that it started out as a N.B chat about a close encounter with a low life, not so very different from a hundred other posts about similar encounters, just from a different perspective. The vitriolic attacks on DERF that followed were IMHO without justification, in particular the attempts to suggest that race/colour might have something to do with it was as pathetic as it was provocative and offensive. Have to admit I'd come to expect better from the forum these days. Mick

Re: Errm - what disclosure??

Agree with you on this one Dave I think this one should have been pulled a long time ago (maybe for a different reason though) . Must be said though the insults were thrown by BOTH sides, anyway lets not go down that road again .
Re the owning of a Targa 52 indicates achievement-----Maybe inheritance wealth or may not have one at all---Who knows ??? Not saying that is the case though . Sorry !

Lets all just kiss and make up and move on .

Re: Errm - what disclosure??

what a load of fuss and nastyness about someone looking for balanced advice, being boss is a lonely job, & I actually can quite understand seeking out non involved company wise, other alternative views. The employee won't have paid tax on his "earnings" so I doubt he will go to a tribunal, of which I have had a fair few over the years. Employee tribunals have become a total farce.

Ah yes, best was the black guy, well actually he was brown, & still the same colour when I sacked him, over totally complely provable incompetence. When he tried it on, race relations etc., I explained when I took him on he was that colour, and remained so. By the way I am white, well pink some days, & red others (wine !)
& I don't care where that comes from... SA is good tho

Believe only half what you see ......

And nothing of what you hear. The problem with this matter is that we have been told one half of a story by someone of who we know nothing concerning someone else about who we know less. How does anyone on here know that the true tale resembles anything remotely as told on this forum and yet people are prepared to condemn someone on no more than hearsay.Could it be that our prejudices no longer require proof prior to pronouncing judgement.
