Fueltank and exhaust hose

I am fitting a larger diesel fuel tank , the usual red polypropelen type. Unfortunately the best place to position the tank is parrallel alongside the rubber exhaust hose which actually touches the tank. To my mind as the fuel is diesel and the exhaust hose is water cooled and does not get too hot this should be ok. But are there any experts out there that could give me some guidance in this matter as to whether this would be acceptable or not?.

G'day Raider and welcome to the YBW forums,

I suspect having the exhaust hose and fuel tank in contact with each other is an accident waiting to happen.

The exhaust hose will vibrate and no doubt cause wear if it contacts anything.

Could you not fit a plywood partition between the tank and hose? The hose could then be clipped to the ply to prevent excessive movement(assuming it's not too close to the engine)
And also fit a Halyard 'cooling water failure' device which will instantly warn you if the cooling water suddenly stops - unlike the usual alarms which work on the engine cooling water rising.

Plywood partition sounds like a good idea, due to space I can only get a 6mm piece of ply between the tank and hose which would be a tight fit. I like the idea of the Halyard alarm, thanks. I will also have to have another look at the space and maybe see if I can move the calorifier and put the tank there instead.
