Hi,

Anyone know the answer to this puzzle?
My boat has it's fridge removed, it was a fridge with a side opening door, like a mini kitchen fridge.
Now...i want to replace with a coolbox, but i can't find a coolbox with a side opening door.
Any one every seen one?

So basically a normal fridge with a side opening door, but a cool box instead.

any ideas?

As a coolbox I would suspect that this will not be terribly effective, cause whenever you open the door, you will lose a lot of the "cool" A top opening one merely looses that amount of cool that has been absorbed by the item removed from the box, or the absorbtion through the walls.
Nevertheless, if this is the way you want to go, there are two options:

Buy an old style caravan fridge and remove the cooling bits (cheap, but you will have to seal the holes, and dispose of the dreadful ozone-unfriendly gases!

Go to a specialist boat fridge firm such as Penguin and purchase a new fridge without the cooling elements.

why not have a look Coolmatic, they've got a whole range of front-opening fridges, you can build in. Also Isotherm. I once had a coolbox that could be placed upright, but it was of the ever-running, powerdraining, not so very well cooling variety. After two seasons it gave up the ghost.

Why do you want to fit a cool box as opposed to another fridge?

If it is because new fridges are rather expensive, pm me - I have a new unused fridge for sale......

Hi Dave

Saw them stacked to the ceiling in our local 'Focus' store this weekend. Should be discounting them heavily very soon, as they had the England team logo plastered all over them. God forbid that an english footie fan should leave the sofa to get a beer!
Oh and they were switchable 12v/220v, so you can use it at home in the winter. I can't remember what the price was, but Focus are usually pretty cheap.

Cheers!
Martin
