Hi Yep the book is called "Through the French Canals" by Philip Bristow and is published by Nautical Books --- and I meant to say edition nine not version nine. Most Chandlers with hold a copy or would be able to obtain one for you.
Hope this helps

Means it will be even more upto date. Worth the wait, it will give you all the info you need to bring your boat thru canals. Main thing is size -- most locks in canals were made to take the french barges which means max air draft 3.5m,beam 5m and draft 1.8 m . I've just had a look at the canal route you proposed-- figures are as follows--- distance St Jean-de-Losne to St Mammes 332km number of locks 209 minimum air draft 3.38m minimum dpth of water 1.96m. Then on Seine to Paris.
If this airdraft causes you a problem suggest other route Chalon-sur-Saone ( stop just before St Jean then canal du centre/canal du loing to St Mammes the figures for this route are -- distance 395km locks 144 minimum air draft 3.66m minimum depth of water 1.96m this is a longer distance but less locks and bigger air draft. Hope this helps.
