Downloaded and installed Seaclear today to have a look at it and test my new GPS 'mouse' receiver.

Anyone know of any compatible free charts that can be downloaded to have a play?

If you just want a play rather than charts for your home cruising area then all the New Zealand charts are available free as .tiff files. Go to LINZ do the "Acknowledge bit" and follow your nose to charts, download, etc.

Won't let you test your GPS on them though, if that is important, unless you take a long sail /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Can't remember but think SeaClear plots the GPS position on the world chart, if you just want to see if it works.

They work in SeaClear as source files - I used them to make charts for SeaClear when I used that in the past.

try here. Maps not for navigation etc but they're pretty good. Download bmp and clb files then open the clb file with notepad to get the calibration points. They've just added a bit more of scotland but tigha na troosers isnae oan, yet ....

Actual free-charts .... that is commercial style with all detail etc. are not available for many areas - being subject to copyright etc.

Many I know - use the services of P2P networks to download charts and other stuff ... such as Shareaza, Kazaa, emule, edonkey etc. Entering such terms as "emap", "GPS" etc. in the search category are sure to bring up something ....

Good luck - its a very good program and I am very happy using Seaclear.
