Flatter than a flat thing (videos)

Looks too good to be true..What are thoes engines and are they/it realy as quiet as that? All I can detect is the sound made by the hull... A serious question, as I have not had any experiance of modern powerboating.Chris.

It really was like that. The engines are D6-350's, and all three fragments were at 32kts, which was 3000rpm.

Cheers

Great trip Jimmy. We did something similar ourselves a couple of years back, headed out from Lymington to Weymouth, and ended up in the Yealm 'cos it was just too nice to stop.

We did Christchurch to Weymouth starting at 5.am saturday and its was like heaven.Came back sunday and it was much the same.Only thing was tide wasnt with us for the entrance and exit and that was a bit hairy with 0.1 ft showing on the depth on a falling tide in the dark.

It was the best weather weekend for us.

Reminds me of a trip from Southampton to Weymouth back in 2003, exactly the same the sea was like a mirror and at the time the temp was approx 35c. It was so good I just wanted to keep going forever, and did what you did just drift to enjoy calm conditions and the slience. Last weekend it was all Solent for me and very enjoyable.

Excellent vids!

Great video, followed you out of Brighton on Saturday, did the same trip on the 1st August but went straight to Brixham via south of the IOW, But conditions where forecast F4 Possible F5, more like F5 Possible F6 and very overcast, the last bit of land we saw was Ventor before we reached Torbay took just over 7hrs, had to slow down to 18k Stopped on the way back at the new Portland Marina very nice, bus service into Weymouth and no rafting.

any idea of fuel consumption at that speed??

Not at that specific speed; for the trip as a whole probably somewhere around three litres per nm, although I won't know exactly what we used until I fill up again in Brighton, and download the track to see how many miles we actually did.

Cheers
Jimmy

Flatter Than a Flat Thing

"In FLat-Land" as the old Rear Admiral says...

Certainly was! Great trip in double quick time and nice vids too.

I was rally jealous when I saw this post as I was nowhere near the boat last weekend due to other commitments. Still, at least we can all get blown away in the wind and rain this weekend.

Look forward to seeing you out there soon. ;)
