Fitting vented loops on toilet

I bought some 1 1/2 inch hose and vented loops for a Jabasco toilet and started to fit them. Sods Law struck again and I find that the seacock is 1 1/4 inches in diameter. The short length of hose that I am replacing (and which I had to cut to remove) had been stretched to fit onto the Jabasco 1 1/2 inch toilet outpipe.

I have been advised to replace the seacock by a larger one as any attempt to fit a sleeve around the existing seacock to accommodate the 1 1/2 inch hose or to get a smaller size hose and stretch it to fit onto the vented loop would run the risk of leaking. I would welcome advice on what is involved in replacing the seacock. My inclination is to bite the bullet and get the seacock replaced by the local boatyard.

David Moss was my first thought. Sods Law again, (why is it that all the seemingly simple jobs turn out to be pigs?) I eventually went to him to loosen my prop shaft nuts to extend the shaft for the stripper but am still waiting. With the wind and rain we have been having I can understand why he hasn't got around to it yet.

Any more votes for Nigel's suggestion? I was quite surprised to be advised against it by Mailspeed Marine on safety grounds.

Puzzled

I have two questions. First, who makes 1-1/4" seacocks? Blakes only do 1-1/2". Second, I don't really understand the vented loop; I was always told to pump enough air through, when flushing, to break the suction.

Re: Puzzled

French! As I understand it the vented loops at the top of toilet inlet and outlet tubes let air in but not water out to prevent sea water siphoning in if the toilet is below water level and the seacocks are left open.

The Moss responds to you going round and saying "David, if you've just got 5 minutes we could nip round to the boat now and have a look at this job. "
If you wait for him you'll wait a long time
