I am replacing my old gas hose but am struggling to force the 10mm fulham connection into the orange gas hose. Can anyone recommend any way to ease the task?
[/ QUOTE ] We are always told not to use w'up liqid when testing for leaks on the grounds that it is corrosive. Surely the same objection applies to using it for lubricating hoses on fitting.
For the same reason, we were told not to use W.U.L.in the car skooshers, it rotted the seal and the glass fell out....well the screen leaked a bit. Back to the problem - just boil it up, if you need lubrication, spit on it.
[/ QUOTE ] That is the most sensible suggestion, I'm sure it's what my father would have done. KY jelly should be OK or even a smear of silicone grease
When fitting new drains for a ensuite in my house I was told in no uncertain terms not to use washing up liquid when trying to put the joints together.
I even started to try and ask the question why not. But the building inspector would not back down. He was an older and very experienced inspector, not a youngster with mainly paper qualifications.
My brother who is a builder did agree with what he was saying.
As I said I don't know about any effect on gas rubber pipes.
I might as well redo them. It's been a lousy weekend anyway. I've just returned from seeing Preston lose to Man City 3-1. Blackpool and Accrington lost and now the team from my youth , Fulham, have just been thrashed!
