I was struck by the similarity of my delta anchor to a large fish hook .. has anybody ever caught anything with one and if so what bait did they use?

Bruce fishing

On a tour of Oz, the Pope took a few days off to visit the coast for some sightseeing. He was cruising along the beach in the Pope-mobile when there was a frantic commotion just off shore.

A helpless man, wearing an England rugby jersey, was struggling frantically to free himself from the jaws of a 25 foot shark.

As the Pope watched in horror, a speedboat pulled up with three men wearing Australian rugby jerseys.

One quickly fired a harpoon into the sharks side while the other two reached out and pulled the blue semiconscious Pom from the water. Then, using the long clubs, the three beat the shark to death and hauled it into the boat.

Immediately the Pope shouted and summoned them to him. "I give you my blessing for your brave actions. I heard that there were some bitter hatreds between Aussies and Poms, but now I have seen with my own eyes that this is not true."

As the Pope drove off, the harpooner,Bruce, asked his cobbers,Brucie and Brucellosis, "who was that?"

"It was the Pope" Brucie replied. "He is in direct contact with God and has access to all of God's wisdom."

"Well" Brucellosis said, "he may have access to God and His wisdom, but he doesn't know shit about shark fishing. Is the bait holding up OK or do we need to get another one?

Never caught anything but would not swop it for anything either...In all my years spent on and around boats it is undoubtably the best anchor I have ever used. Provided you drop it slowly and then dont try to dig it in with too much power(normally your windage is sufficient!)it will rarelly if ever let you down. Drop it and rest in peace!!!

I once caught a gigantic eel using a CQR. I raised it to the surface and it was as thick as my thigh. It escaped when all of the lights along the shoreline went out.
