Anyone got one? What are they like, l'm thinking of buying one. Do they actually sail?

Don't own one but have sailed (yes sailed to the detractors!) One with bowsprit and taller main mast. Cutter/ketch and there is a lot of canvas albeit manageable, not close winded but has some momentum which making a short steep sea a dodle. Aft cabin versions iirc where early Fairways boats with no cockpit whatsoever with the remainder of the interior being the older design too. Access to the aft cabin iirc was from the wheel house which reduced its seating capacity.
You are better imho finding a latter design with the larger galley down the std quarter and the quarter cabin to port.

I remember one of the sail clinic articles where a guy with one of these boats was asking how to get it to tack. From what I remember, even the expert had very limited success but he did get there to some degree.
Its a motor boat with masts. Nothing wrong with that as long as you can accept it. I'd have one if I didnt race a bit.

Speaking to folk in the marina here, they don't sail at all but motorsail well. I was told if I really wanted a motor sailor to by a Nauticat.(they don't sail either)

With 15/16 knots apparent wind a modern 37 will sail at 7 knots from between 60 degrees to approx 110 degrees. 32'6 lwl and all that sail area drive them along very well (and I raced mostly!). Any closer than 50 to 55 degrees requires the 80ish hp engine on just over tickover.

If it's a ketch with a cutter fore-triangle, then downwind it will have problems with some sails blanketing others. You've got four sails, all in a line. Dead downwind you can goosewing to get two of them into unobstructed air, but the other two will still suffer to some extent.

Do you cruise dead downwind cos I never have if I can help it? Try not to sail dead downwind even when racing!
However if it was necessary the full goosewinged genoa and full main on the F37. Two smaller sails furled/flaked. Still a lot of sail on a bowspritted 37 and very directional stable with the long keel.

Or you could put a kite and mizzen staysail up.
Indeed and for the detractors they can move far quicker than you would expect, heavy yes but they do sail!
That looks like a F25. Even though I'm only 43 I quite fancy a sloop rigged F25 with a Brunton.
