Yes. Nice subject, but the skill in displaying pics is to develop the ability to edit your selection.
I would go for number one, but crop the left off to remove the winch base which draws the eye. Cover it over with your hand and see how the emphasis of the picture changes.
I'd chop a little bit off the bottom as well. I also think horizons should be horizontal.
On the subject of editing and displaying photos I think many of the avatars could be improved, eg Piddy's and Etap Owner's, by flipping them so that they are sailing onto the page rather than off the LHS. The original clipart from which my dragon came faced the other way but he looks much better facing the posts.
At least I have learnt something about using Photobucket that I did not know, namely linking to albums from which prints can be made. Presumably these will be good quality (high resolution)
Yep, I don't dislike that.
I prefer to keep some more boat in the pic to maintain the conflict between the boat and the sea. It also keeps the bow-wave on the Golden Mean (5/8ths into the pic in each direction, sometimes simplified to the Rule of Thirds) which gives a pictorial balance. Don't know why.
I'm just thinking as I look at it. Why do designers make the side deck slope away? True it's handy when when using the windward sidedeck, but lethal on the lee where you may expect to be working on sheets and cars etc.

Something to do with getting the wet stuff back where it belongs perhaps?
Thanks all.
It was a nice sail back from Lymington on Wednesday. 20Knts wind passing Cowes, 8.5kts on the boat speed, 10.5kts on GPS. I have to confess Mrs Piddy was driving the camera and yes, they are not edited yet. I've only just opened a photo bucket account and wanted to see if it worked. All I have to do is work out how to post a picture like the clever clogs have!
Cheers
