Heard a report earlier that it was a "group of young people" returning from the fireworks in the dark. Hit a large mooring buoy. CG said that the speedo on the rib was stuck following the accident and showing a speed of 50 knots. Sounds too fantastic to be true!

Its also the idiots to wave their spotlights around indiscriminitly and ruin everyones night vision. as for those doing more than 6 knots in the dark with no radar and no method for spotting unlit buoys, - are they really surprised they have an accident.

Although I have good friend with RIBs last night the owners of RIBs were acting like majority of Jet Ski owners, brainless. They were thundering in between the moored boats with no thought for anyone except themselves. Why do they have to act as idiots? Is there a badge attached to them that says drive this as fast as it can go? On the Beaulieu river they are just the same. I took the helm of our friends boat back across the Solent and up the Beaulieu River and 4 to 5 knots was enough in the dark. Even though a RIB overtook us doing at least double our speed. Any RIB owners reading this please have some consideration for others.
