The hose for my cockpit drains passes through the engine compartment to seacocks behind the keel. The current ones are insulated but they're getting a bit old, so it is probably time to start thinking about replacement.

Obviously if the hose burns through in a fire the boat will sink, which whilst it may well put out the fire would be otherwise quite awkward.

Does anyone know of a supplier of decent fire-resistant hose? The diameter in 1.25".

Alternatively or as well Aviation parts suppliers should be able to supply a stainless steel mesh cover to go over the hoses to deflect heat so improving fire resistance. olewill

You are probably right, need to ask a surveyor I guess, or read through MGN 280. On ours, all the hoses in the engine room are fire rated. In the separate hold/lazarette those hoses supplying the generator needed to be fire rated as well as those to the deck wash pump. However those hoses supplying the heads forward in a separate hull compartment are just standard hoses.

The OP was describing deck drain hoses passing through the engine room and my reply was a bit sloppy and assumed that we we discussing hoses passing through an engine compartment.
