external speaker impedance

I want to plug in an external speaker to an apelco vxe200 vhf. What would be the impedance value of a suitable speaker?

Should say in the manual for the VHF but it's almost certain to be 8 ohms.

I do not have the manual but I suspect you may be right.
The internal speaker on my hand held XM2000 which recently failed was 8 ohm.

nasa make a great little cockpit speaker, which is 4

works fine on my navman vhf. Remember it is mono...

There are often cheap speakers on eBay. I got one for about a tenner and it works fine. 4 ohms if my memory serves me correctly. Connected to a Navman 7200.

Speaker impedences for VHF's are pretty nominal. 8 ohms and you won't blow it up.
