Ken,
Great idea! I'd love to come, but it's a long way from Aberdeen just for the weekend. The 4th/5th would be out for me anyway.

If it was for a bit longer, say a Thursday afternoon through to Monday or Tuesday, then I would DEFINATELY be on for it.

Now here's a request. If I was to come on such a trip, would anyone allow me to skipper their yacht, say on the way back? I would be crew on the way over, and if the skipper I sailed with was happy with my performance, then I would be skipper on the return leg with the owner as crew. The fact of the matter is that I'm trying to get my skippered passages over 60 miles ticked off in my log-book, but it's a bit difficult when I don't have a boat as yet!

I thought about chartering a boat, but unfortunately SWMBO wouldn't come. She's ok with day-sails, but does not like living aboard, I'm afraid. I must have kept her in too much luxury these past 20 years.

Re: Gentlemen, please...

Don't mind Ken, but Mrs Nicho doesn't want to go - she won't believe me that everyone involved is a true gentleman - of course she knows Jimi well, and sadly you are all tarred with the same brush!!

Jim,

Once my boats ready you can skipper it the length of the Thames, does that count. All it will cost you is a dozen butteries.

Like to join in - need an invite....

My boat is still under construction but I would love to join up as crew. If anyone has space I'd welcome an invite.

Ta.

Claymore - I'm down at the boat tomorrow, so hopefully will be able to ask Jimi for a translation - but if you mean, what I think you mean, well, "ooh, you are awful, but I like you.......!"

Afraid not. Has to be a rag-and-stick and an offshore passage, so I don't think the Thames counts.

Thanks for the offer, though

Re: all invited

It seems that there are plenty of boats, not much crew. So, i wd opt for an open policy.

Also, I am hoping for cookery guidance. Perhaps one of the swmbos may be able to give me some expert guidance to produce the perfect Medium Sliced Fried Bread?

If it works out and you can persuade me your up to it I'm happy to allow you to skipper Amaya on the home run so you gain a 60 mile qualifier. I'd be up for a long weekend anyway.

Regards
Tom

Re: Thur - Mon/Tue

This sounds a much better idea. 'Lady in Red' is up for that, and if you would like to join me and do the pointing thats fine (normal conditions and caveats must apply).

I'm fine fo w/e 4/5. I'd be up for a meet up on Thursday evening and set off early on Friday. therwise I'll do whatever everybody else is doing. Likewise I'm quite happy to let someone skipper the return leg for a YM qualifying passage.

We need to get the dates sorted or I'm in a stookie.

There's a few cannot make the weekend 4/5, myslef included. So how about we take a straw poll on 4/5 or 11/12 October?

Majority goes, either way - replies to Twister_Ken

Room for a little one?

Well, maybe not quite so little nowadays. But would be happy to crew for someone. YMI and radar instructor; reasonable cook. Open for either weekend.

Looks as though this one needs its own forum.

In reply to Tome's suggestion, I can do both 4/5th and 11/12th October, or indeed ANY other (short or long) weekend that suits most of the others. It seems that quite a few can't make the first date??
