Epirb disposal

can anyone advise on current thinking for epirb disposal

First, unregister it and then either send it back to the manufacturer or set it off in a metal box for 24 hours to ensure the batteries are totally flat (unless you can open it up to disconnect) after first phoning the UK Coastguard on 03443820025 to warn them just in case a signal gets out of the box, then take it to your local authority recycling centre where they have an electrical device/appliance bin.

Under WEEE regs the manufacture should take care of disposal I think.

Alternatively contact an EPIRB service centre like Ocean Safety etc and ask their advice - I'm pretty sure they'd take them in but haven't tried it.
