Wonderful result against an old adversary.

Now, how did that bunch of overpaid, oversexed, married to (or shacked up with) a pop-star, prima-donnas get on last night against the french? The spring broke in my wind up radio so I don't know.

PS why is it that a significant number of the other nationality players play for English club teams rather than play in their native countries? Anything to do with the ridiculously inflated salaries and fringe benefits they are on here?

AND (Further grump)...When I was a lad, retired soccer players ran newsagents, tobbacconists or pubs. They hadn't amassed the fabulous riches of today's players which enable them to install side by side his and hers gold plated loo pans, (That is the ONE place I insist on being alone!) in their garish "Palaces".

I was in Dublin airport as the match was going on, waiting for a delayed flight out (finally left at 23.45!!) There was the obligatory Irish Pub in the terminal, packed to the gunnels with drunken spectators, so I didn't bother going in. I did however hear four very loud cheers, so assumed England had won 4 - 0. I was wrong - they evidently cheered firstly for Beckhams penalty miss, then the two French goals, and an even bigger cheer at the final whistle.

Seems we are not that popular out there still!!

John

PS Why did the word "Tax" go blue all on its own?
