Engine starter panel

Am building 40 foot yacht. I want to mount my engine starter panel in the cockpit, close to the wheel. I want it in a GRP recess with a clear perspex cover to protect it .

I've hunted high and low, anyone know where I can buy one of these recesses.

in short, no.

why not make one? it should be fairly simple to make a mould useing, say, a rectangular pie dish. cast a male plug from the pie dish, stick to a sheet of melamine faced chipboard & smooth wax or plasticene over the join, coat with wax ore relesae emulsion, then apply gelcoat and 3 or 4 layers of mat. about an hour's work spread over 2-3 days.

RS amongst many electrical dealers do plastic enclosures with clear plastic covers to various levels of watertightness. could be worth a look. www.rsw.co.uk
