Hi
Have had the Engine Maintenance DVD now for a while but have not had chance to sit down and watch it until last night. I think it's very good and shows the basic information for those who need to learn and gain confidence in maintenance.
There is one point which I think may be worth pointing out. It's at the beginning of the Pre Start Checks. When Nick explains about checking the gearbox oil he says that you unscrew (or with a spanner) the dipstick and wipe clean before putting the dipstick back but do not screw down . This is ok with the Volvo Penta 'box but is not the correct way for the newer PRM 'boxes. With the PRM 'boxes you have to remove the dipstick, wipe it, and then screw the dipstick fully down then remove again to read the oil level.
Using Nick's method on the PRM 'box, the dipstick will give you a low reading indicating that a top up of oil is required. Remember, filling the gearbox with too much oil may cause overheating and oil leaks.
If anyone is not sure then refer to your owner's handbook.
